Hoody Festival Coming Soon

A group of Fixers from Harwich are donning their hoodies to change the perception of young people in the town.

The Fixers are organising the ‘Harwich Hoody Festival’ – a unique event which invites young people across the town to come together, all dressed as a stereotypical ‘hoody’ young person, to change the face of ‘hoodies’.

With live entertainment from a variety of bands and figures, the festival will bring together communities from a variety of backgrounds with an aim of demonstrating to residents of Harwich that young people should not be stereotyped, and that stereotyping them only creates further problems.

Lead Fixers Kieran Hutchence (17) and Kaitlin Trenerry (16) said: “We feel that general morale in Harwich is low and that there is a lack of activities and fun things to do, especially for young people in the area.

“This means that young people soon get bored, and the older generation assume all young people do is just cause trouble and vandalise. They always think these alleged ‘trouble makers’ dress the same way, or act the same way.

“We want to show that these perceptions are unjustified. We want to show that young people in the town can do something positive to make Harwich a nicer place to live, and can bring the community together, and that people in the town should embrace this creativity.

“It does not matter who they are, what they do, or where they come from, this festival shows that ‘hoodies’ can and do work together to make a positive impact on the town.”

The festival will be held at Park Pavilion, Barrack Lane, Dovercourt, Harwich, Essex, CO12 3NS on Saturday 3rd November, starting at 10:30 and finishing at 5pm.
