Sanctuary Housing

Sanctuary is delighted to be working in partnership with Fixers, which will ensure that many more Fixer projects will be funded across the UK. We hope that by supporting young people to address the issues they want to fix, in the communities where they live, we will be helping to support the next generation of community champions.

Building a Nation of Fixers together…

Leading housing and care provider Sanctuary Group is a charitable organisation that reinvests surpluses into developing services, providing new homes and improving properties. With over 94,000 units of accommodation across England and Scotland, we know that building strong communities and inspiring people to make a real difference is as important as providing them with a home, which is why we invest in the neighbourhoods where we operate.

Sanctuary is funding Fixer projects in eight communities, engaging young residents where we have housing in Banbury, Torbay, Sheffield, Hackney, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Cumbernauld and Dundee. Over two years 240 young people will become Fixers as a result of Sanctuary’s support. Click on the links on the right-hand side to see the Fixer projects we have funded to date.

Sophie Atkinson, Group Head of Community Investment and Sustainability for Sanctuary, says:

“By working in partnership with others we can help young people achieve their potential. We wholeheartedly support Fixers whose unique approach to helping young people tackle the issues they care about is making a real difference, not only to the lives of the young people but also to the communities around them.”

Sanctuary, which has been named one of the country’s Top 100 Apprentice Employers,is also giving staff the opportunity to take part in the programme, including apprentices. We believe that offering our younger members of staff the opportunity to become a Fixer will enable them to take responsibility for addressing some of the social issues which they experience. It will help develop leadership skills and is a practical way of ensuring that our people, whatever part of the business they work in, are supported to take action on the issues they care about.
