Campaign: | To show that there is hope after being diagnosed with ME |
Until a couple of years ago I was a normal teenager, enjoying life and pursuing my passions.
I thought I was the happiest and physically fittest I have ever been.
But in the space of about three weeks, at the age of 18, I was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME).
Also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, ME can often be a debilitating condition, which can leave you feeling extremely tired all the time.
I felt like giving up because I could no longer be myself and do the things I love.
However, after making some changes in my life, including supplementing my diet with healthy juice drinks and taking up yoga, I’ve started to see a change in my health.
I’m working with Fixers to show people with ME that with a positive outlook they can get better.
I want to reach out to young people who are in the same position as I was in and help them feel positive about their future again.
A special thank you to Amelia Armstrong for helping me with my Fix.
Professor Julia Newton of Newcastle University
Professor Newton supported my project by speaking about the symptoms of ME for my broadcast story.
