Campaign: | Educate people on caring for dogs |
From a young age, I've been fascinated with dogs. After losing 80% of my sight during childhood, bonding with them could be difficult.
However, I have become aware of the behaviours of a dog over my lifetime thanks to continual studying of their mood and body language.
A lot of dog attacks occur against children, and it can often have serious consequences. This usually happens because people are not entirely aware of how to handle dogs in the home.
I have adopted a four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Taz, who was labelled a problem dog. But even though the mistreatment from the previous owner made it difficult to train Taz, I persevered. Now I continue that good work with a lot of 'difficult' rescue dogs.
Through my film, I want people to understand how and why dogs behave the way they do with an aim to stop many being destroyed or abandoned.
A canine rehoming and rehabilitation centre where I work with Lynn to understand and train dogs.
The local centre of the RSPCA which prevents cruelty towards animals.

I held a workshop at Lincoln Christ's Hospital School, Lincoln, to teach primary school aged children how to look after dogs, and how to understand their behaviour.
27th February 2013
I met up with a group of fellow Fixers to premiere my film to a small audience in central London. Accompanying me on the day was my mum Lisa, and my sister Charlene.
At the screening I received a lot of positive feedback on my film:
'A useful starting point for primary aged children to understanding dog/animal behavior.'
'Clever graphics, simply illustrated points. Informative but not bossy.'
'Everything was good. It was a good way to outline the do's and don'ts, and a way of understanding pet behaviour while making the right decision to get one.'
'Very helpful tips. Gave me a better understanding of how to treat a dog.'
January 2013
My piece was chosen to feature on ITV Anglia and ITV London Tonight. From this my story was also featured in the Peterborough Telegraph.
