Name: Tasha and Kemi Ryan

Year of the Fix: 2009
Location: Liverpool
Campaign: We want to discourage young people from getting involved in crime

We both got involved in crime at a very early age. At first we were selling marijuana and then moved up to Class A drugs. We were caught importing class A drugs and were sentenced to eight years in prison.

For us, prison was a massive wake up call. It gave us time to reflect and think about the future. We realised how many negative influences there are on young people and so we wanted to use our experience to help turn this into a positive by informing and educating them.

Our mission is to help prevent young people from getting involved in a life of crime and make the mistakes that we did.

With the help of Fixers, we set up a website (re-formed.co.uk) and now have our own business, which involves mentoring young people from different communities all across the UK. Our hope is to steer young people down the right path by talking to them about crime and the consequences of it.

Thank you to Lauren Fairweather for helping us with this Fix.

October 2013

We've extended our workshops to include raising awareness to potential employers, challenging them to see that people with convictions might just need a second chance.
