I was about 13 when I started using drugs. I had a difficult home life and I wanted to escape.
Things escalated when I moved into my own flat. I took a range of alcohol and drugs and it got to a point where I couldn’t go to work without using something or come back without using something.
I got into trouble with the police last year. I was genuinely suicidal and hit rock bottom. I knew I needed to get help so I went to a doctor and got help for my mental health.
I went to community rehab when I was about 40 days clean – I was referred by my community practice nurse. I’ve been clean for 18 months.
I want to tackle the stigma surrounding drugs, and that’s why I won’t say what drugs I was using. I hope to start a conversation about why people think the type of drug you were taking is important.
I made the film with Fixers because I want to show people that there isn’t just one type of drug that you can be addicted to and if you have a problem then help is available.
