Professor Janet Treasure OBE

Professor Janet Treasure OBE from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London is a world-renowned expert on eating disorders.


In addition to her academic role, she is also Director of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust’s Eating Disorders Unit.


Much of Professor Treasure’s research over the past 34 years has centred on the causes of eating disorders and the use of this information to develop new treatments, including the first ever self-care manual for bulimia and new psychological therapies for people with anorexia nervosa and their carers.


Awarded her OBE for services to people with eating disorders, her efforts were also acknowledged when she was presented with a lifetime achievement award from the Academy for Eating Disorders.
