As a way to tackle anti-social behaviour in our community, we feel that encouraging teenagers to take up performing arts could offer them an alternative way to spend their time.
As a music student myself, I know how standing in front of a crowd can give young people confidence and motivation going forward.
But more importantly, it’s something creative they could be doing rather than roaming around the streets.
Therefore, with the help of Fixers, we’ve created a workshop booklet so young people can understand what anti-social behaviour is through performing arts.
Hopefully it will help them realise that it's unacceptable and has a negative impact on where they live.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:
Magherafelt Young Performers Society
Martina Rafferty, the co-ordinator for the theatre group, supported our Fix by facilitating the project and many of the group are members of the Young Performers Society.
Magherafelt District Council
Michael McCrory from the Council is helping us get our booklets into schools, colleges and youth centres around Magherafelt.
