Campaign: | To spread happiness and encourage people to smile |
A smile makes the world a brighter, happier place and it doesn’t cost a thing!
I often encourage people to smile, just by asking them to, as I think it boosts morale within a community.
With the help of Fixers, my team and I are planning an event to be held during the same week as the United Nations International Day of Happiness, which takes place on 20th March.
Our aim will be to get people smiling – to do this volunteers will talk to people, tell jokes and offer high fives. There will also be entertainment.
We hope the legacy of our efforts will be an annual event that people in our community could look forward to.

March 2014
We held our happiness event on Saturday 22nd March and it was brilliant – I think we really made Wrexham smile!
Between 11am and 3pm around 20 volunteers helped spread joy at the Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre.
As well as music, dancing, magic and juggling, actors dressed up as popular animated characters, including Monsters Inc.’s Mike Wazowski and a minion from Despicable Me.
We handed out stickers to everyone we interacted with and we didn’t have many left by the end of the day!
Altogether, we think we spoke to more than 1000 people.
The MP for Wrexham, Ian Lucas, met with us on the morning of the event.
He said: ‘It’s tremendous that you’re being active and that positive young people in Wrexham are making others smile.’

Before our event took place an article about it appeared in the Wrexham Leader on Wednesday 12th March.

I was also interviewed on BBC Radio Wales on Friday 21st March.
Me and my friends want young people to know that calories aren't the enemy!
