Campaign: | Ending negative stereotypes of young offenders |
I think many people assume the worst once they know you’re a young offender.
Society has a very negative perception of us and the media doesn't help.
When they tell a story, it’s usually a negative one about us being in bed all day, playing computer games and getting into fights.
So, with the help of Fixers me and my team are producing a film which looks to challenge these misconceptions and show the good work that young people in custody do.
Hopefully it will also show future employers that we’re not all bad and have something genuine to offer on the outside.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix. They have asked for their surnames to be withheld:
Brian | Michael |
Dean | Michael |
Frank | Michal |
James | Mohammed |
John | Paul |
Jordan | Paul |
Keir | Ryan |
Mark | Ryan |

The prison service supports our Fix and has allowed us to carry out our campaign, which involves young people in custody in Polmont.
The charity, which runs the youth work service inside the prison, supports our Fixers project.
This organisation also supports young people inside Polmont and helped facilitate speaking with some of the young offenders.
