Campaign: | To encourage website owners to do more to stop cyberbullying |
I’ve been a victim of cyberbullying and know well enough that it’s not a nice experience.
However, what concerns me most of all is that, in really serious instances, it may be contributing to some young suicides.
So, it’s vital that more is done to tackle this growing problem.
With the help of Fixers, I want to call on the owners of websites that are popular with young people to take more responsibility for preventing cyberbullying.
I would like to see an anti-bullying button displayed on these sites so that young people who are experiencing online abuse can click on it and be connected to a counsellor.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:
Chantelle Graci | Harriet Morter | Thomas Wilson |
Joe Linge | Joe Welham | Lewis Old |
Rebecca Flurrie | Chloe Algar | Laura Green |
Elly Anderson | Charlotte Howard | Danielle Lee |
Emily Byram | Frank Brown | Chelsie Pampin |
Katrina Melton | Jack Harper | Francesca Howes |
Josh Carney | Laurie Stone | Daniel Reynolds-Leask |
Adelle Chisne | Chloe Hunt | Ellen French |
Joshua Jackson | Kyra Drake | Shannon Cuskeron |
Suffolk New College
The team at Suffolk New College, where I am a student, support my Fixers project. They allowed us to film scenes for my broadcast piece on campus. Other students from the college also appear in the film - taking part in a group discussion about cyberbullying.
BeatBullying
Charity BeatBullying are backing my Fix. Stephen Hill, Head of Social Action at BeatBullying, agreed to be interviewed to appear in my broadcast film.
Neil Fricker
Neil is a learning support assistant and is helping me with my project. He’s providing general assistance and coordinated with Fixers to organise some of the details of my broadcast shoot.
June 2014
I went with Fixers to the Department for Education to meet Children’s Minister Edward Timpson on Tuesday 17th June.
I spoke to him about my campaign and managed to persuade him to put my Fixers poster up in his office!
May 2014
