Campaign: Showing the effects of homophobic bullying

Coming out as gay was a very hard time for me. Although my family were accepting of it, I was picked on at school.

 

I didn’t really get any support and would regularly have homophobic slurs directed toward me by other pupils.

 

Most people don’t realise how damaging these comments can be. Although I’m in a better place now, I did resort to self-harm. It was a real low point in my life.

 

With the help of Fixers, my team of Fixers and I have created a film showing the harm bullying can have while also aiming to empower the LGBT community.

 

The hope is to take it around secondary schools in the area to educate young people and give hope to victims who feel they don’t have a voice.
