I know what it is like to face cancer, and I feel there isn’t a great deal of emotional support available for the patients, or their family and friends.
There is plenty of medical advice around, but maintaining the mental well-being of cancer patients and their loved ones is just as important.
I was diagnosed with the bone cancer osteosarcoma in 2008 but am now in part remission. During my time being treated for the disease, I found that using artwork and poetry helped me cope and prevented emotional stress building on top of me.
With the help of Fixers, I’m putting together a book of poems and illustrations to be created by those who have been affected by the disease. The book will also contain links to support and further information.
I want to distribute my book to young people and adults, and I hope that my Fix will work as a coping mechanism.
I want people to understand that they are not going through cancer alone.
