My twin sister and I have been fostered since we were 11 years old.
At first, being fostered was hard - we did not trust our new parents, and we found it tough to talk to them about our problems.
We just thought we would cope as we were, and that no one was looking out for us. But after years of bottling up our emotions, we developed depression during our teens.
Looking back we wish we had talked to the people who were there for us, and made a conscious effort to utilise the help that is available to foster children and their carers.
With Fixers, we are encouraging foster children to talk, to open up, and to not isolate themselves. People are there for you.
Thank you to Layla Field, Serena Field and my twin sister Laura La Riviere for helping with this project.
