I first experienced depression when I was 15.
I just felt so low and angry most of the time, thinking I didn't deserve to feel like this. As a result, I was taking it out on all the people who were closest to me.
People around me were saying I was being dramatic, that it’s just teenage angst, but that makes you feel even worse.
Because it’s not a physical illness, it’s so hard to understand. This is why I'm working with Fixers to try to raise awareness about depression in teenagers.
Schools in particular need to be aware of the symptoms of depression so fewer cases go unnoticed.
