Campaign: | Raise awareness of homelessness |
There are quite a few homeless people in my area of South Wales, and I already work with a community housing group to help some of these homeless young people find their feet.
But through my work, I have noticed there are still a lot of misconceptions about homelessness, and homeless people.
Many members of the public do not understand the hardship homeless people face, or the difficulties they encounter when trying to re-enter ‘normal’ life.
Through our campaign, we hope to break the stereotypes people hold against homeless people, showing them the extent of homelessness in our area and what can be done to help.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:
Billie James | Ellie Bowen |
Helen Clutterbuck | Martyn Thomas |
Paige Jones | Rhys Wilcox |
Sian Notley | Sophie Evans |
Stephen Woodland | Thomas Fullick |
The group I work with who help give homeless people support and shelter.
Rebecca Evans supported me on my broadcast piece by discussing with me why people become homeless.

June 2013
I held a screening of my project to an audience of young people. By asking the audience 'What are your thoughts on youth homelessness?' both before and then after the film, we discovered to our delight that we had changed the audiences perspectives.
People who had originally answered that it was a disgrace and that they believed homelessness was due to drugs and alcohol, now understood that homeless young people are misunderstood and that social perceptions need to change.

My story was broadcast on ITV News Cymru Wales, and was followed by a live television interview where I answered questions about homeless.
