Campaign: | Integration of students with disabilities and learning difficulties |
Around 20 per cent of people in my college suffer from a disability or learning difficulty. Even so, I do not feel they are integrated well enough with other students.
When I go to classes, or to events, I see some of the disabled students have a tough time getting to know the other youngsters.
While Worcester College of Technology is doing excellent work to help every disabled student - mainly through holding special classes for people with difficulties and disabilities - I feel more could be done to ensure they feel part of the fabric of the college.
That is why, with the help of a large group of friends, we are campaigning to raise social inclusion in my college.
We have plenty of ideas about how to do this - we could hold a film, an event, or run a poster campaign. Whatever the method, with the hard work of my group - and the support of the college - we believe this Fix will not only allow for greater inclusion in the college, but perhaps inspire people elsewhere to do the same.

We had some positive feedback from Mark Guest, a student who works within a mental health charity, he says:
'I watched your story on Central News regarding tackling inequality and exclusion for people with disabilities. I just felt that your college needs a pat on the back, I did not realise until I started my placement three weeks ago just how excluded and socially isolated disabled individuals are in society.
I just wanted to express my congratulations to all the staff and students that attend your college for bringing the subject of social exclusion and discrimination to the media. Again, well done and good luck in the wonderful path that you are following.'
