I am a young mum, giving birth to my first child when I was just 18-years-old.
I love my daughter, May, and am thankful for her in my life, and try each day to be the best parent I can for her.
However, I feel young mums are stereotyped by many people in society.
People are usually quite quick to judge young mums, whether they are single or not, and often people think you are just having children to ‘cheat the system’.
I want to change this misconceptions. Being a mum is difficult, no matter what age, and it was my aim to have all young mums treated with respect.
I did this via an Easter Fun Day in Bridgwater, Somerset, which gathered children and parents from all over the town together for a day of activities and socialising, to show people that parents of all ages are always doing the best they can.
