Name: Hannah Scrace
Age: 18
Year of the Fix: 2012
Location: Truro
Campaign: Help young people communicate with their families

I live in supported accommodation following a family breakdown.

I moved here in 2012 after there were problems at my home. Since moving here, I’ve become friends with lots of other young women who come into the home.

We talk a lot and we began to realise we have all suffered similar experiences, from abuse to just falling out with our relatives. So we decided to use our experiences for good, and now we are making a short film to show the effects family breakdown has on young people to encourage greater communication between young people and their families.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:

Becky Williams (26*)

Kimberley Rachel Howes (17)
Lauren Bryant (17)
Katie Gough (21)
Hannah Hook (18)
Sammy Jo Foster (17)
Natasha Marshall (19)
Emily Perkin (18)

(* - Some Fixers exceed the age range during the course of the Fix)

My supporters include Westcountry Housing Association which runs Truro Young Womens Centre.

Michelle Collins of Westcountry Housing Association said: “I think Fixers has provided a wonderful opportunity for the young women to work together as a group and explore their issues.”

Our project is supported by the Children's Social Work and Psychology Service at Cornwall Council.
