Campaign: | Encourage young people to get into sport instead of trouble |
I moved to this country from Albania as a Kosovan Refugee when I was a child. This was very tough and my teenage years in the UK were difficult. I used to drink a lot and alcohol made me violent. I used to get into a lot of street fights and then into trouble with the police.
This didn’t help my situation and although, at the time, I thought drinking was a good way to escape some of the tough things that had happened to me in the past, it was just making things worse.
After a while, I decided to take up boxing. I had always liked sports and had tried my hand at others, such as football and rugby, before concentrating on boxing. It gave me something to focus on and something to work towards.
I now spend almost all my free time training because I enjoy it so much and not only does it keep me out of trouble but it has taught me how to use my feelings and frustrations in a positive way. I got in touch with Fixers and decided I wanted to make a film about my change of heart. I thought that the changes I had made in my life could really inspire others to do the same.
