Campaign: | To help young people dealing with grief |
My name is Hannah Carter and I’m 26*-years-old.
When I was 17, my mum passed away after a four-year battle with cancer.
My life was thrown into the air at 100mph and I didn’t know how to cope.
I have now accepted that everyone grieves differently, in their own time, and that there is no final destination.
Now after tackling my grief head on, I am living life more positively. I can proudly say that I have turned my life around and I am ready to help others to do the same.
By creating a booklet with Fixers aimed at young adults dealing with grief, I hope I can show them that there are many ways to deal with bereavement and learn to cope.
We need to open up more about this difficult subject and I want to encourage young people not to push their grief aside. They need to know that it’s ok not to be ok.
*Some Fixers exceed the age range of 16 to 25 during the course of their project.
My project was supported by the Blagrave Trust.
