Campaign: | To encourage teachers to ask if a pupil's bad behaviour might be a cry for help. |
When I was 13 years old, I suffered abuse by my mother’s partner and other family members.
It changed my personality and I went from being a bright student to being an extremely disruptive pupil.
I got detentions and exclusions from teachers but they never asked me why I had changed so much.
Fixers has helped me make a film loosely based on my own experiences. I hope it will encourage children to speak out if something bad is going on at home, but the main target is teachers.
I want them to listen to their pupils if their behaviour has deteriorated and try to find out why they have changed.
Find out why they are doing what they are doing and ask them if they are okay. Sometimes that’s all they need.
The Blagrave Trust is supporting Fixers to work with a number of their partner charities in Hampshire, Berkshire, Sussex and Wiltshire to give young people a voice.
I would also like to thank Debbie Finch at Itchen College and Rachel Hancock at No Limits for supporting me with this fix.
