Campaign: | To show people with disabilities can live independently |
I was born profoundly deaf and I suffer from cerebral palsy. That means I have trouble with muscle control, movement and co-ordination.
I get around in a wheelchair and communicate using sign language and my tablet.
But despite all this I am absolutely determined to live as independent a life as possible.
I left the family home when I was 17 and now live on my own in Exeter. It was a bit scary at first but I just carried on and got more confident. Now I’ve got a part time job in a shop and I do voluntary work.
I do feel strong and independent – and it’s important that people see and understand that.
Star Clapp helped me with this Fix.
