Campaign: | To educate people about absence seizures |
I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 17. I have complex focal seizures - which are known as absence seizures. This means I zone out, becoming unaware of what's going on around me, and then I can't remember what's happened once the seizure has finished.
It was confusing at first because I had never heard of my type of epilepsy.
Automatically when you talk about epilepsy people think of convulsive seizures, so I wanted to explain more about what mine is like, because a lot of people don’t seem to understand.
I've created a booklet with Fixers to explain a little bit about the various effects of the condition.
The following Fixers helped me with this Fix:
Jess Wright
Jess Zahra
Aaron Hartley
Andrew Compton
Shane Hoyle
The Blagrave Trust is supporting Fixers to work with a number of their partner charities in Hampshire, Berkshire, Sussex and Wiltshire to give young people a voice.
