I've been caring for my mum since I was about 12. She had depression, and she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
In school teachers would think I was daydreaming, but really I’d be thinking about how my mum was and if I’d remembered to book a doctor’s appointment for her.
They would put it down to me not putting in the effort, instead of asking me what was wrong.
I want to show that young carers do care about school, but sometimes our mind is elsewhere and we need a little understanding.
