Campaign: | To show how hyperkinetic disorder can be isolating |
I have always found it hard to express my emotions and understand how other people are feeling, which caused many problems for me when I was younger.
I was badly bullied and got into fights because people got the wrong idea about me. I also got into a lot of trouble with the police.
I was diagnosed with hyperkinetic disorder when I was 11. It caused me a lot of difficulty when interacting with others but over the years I have learnt how to manage the condition without relying on medication.
Beatboxing helps me to express my emotions. I love mimicking sounds I hear and experimenting with my voice.
I created 3D printed models of soundwaves created by different emotions such as crying, a laugh and a scream to exhibit in an art gallery.
I am asking people to identify which is which, to illustrate how hard it is for me to decipher different emotions.
