Campaign: | To make public transport free for young carers |
I started caring for my dad when I was five. I was his secondary carer until I was 16, when my mum and dad separated.
I find paying for travel difficult because the cost of it is really high.
I use public transport almost every day and rely on it to get to the young carers’ centre, do food shopping and pick up prescriptions for my dad.
My partner and I started the campaign with a group of young carers because we think that public transport
should be free for people in unpaid caring roles.
We created the film with Fixers to show how this would give young carers a better quality of life.
Fixer Amanda Macdonald supported me with this Fix.
Christine Melville, from Renfrewshire Young Adult Carers, supported me with this Fix.
