Campaign: | To make people more aware of invisible illnesses |
I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a condition that affects my connective tissues, muscles and joints.
For a long time I was in awful pain and felt exhausted. I had to miss a year of school, but no one knew what was wrong with me.
Because I look healthy on the outside, some people have accused me of faking my symptoms and doing it for attention, while others think I am lazy.
I have learned to manage my symptoms now and I am a keen artist.
I have created a series of portraits of people with invisible illnesses for an exhibition for my Fixers project.
I hope it will encourage others realise that lots of people are living with challenging conditions that no-one can see.
