Campaign: | To encourage more support for people with alopecia |
My hair loss started around the age of 12. I’d been bullied for two years and I think the emotional stress caused the hair loss.
It started to have an impact on my mental health. I became depressed and anxious about my body image.
Looking back, if I’d had someone to talk to, if I’d been signposted to a counsellor to offload onto about how I was feeling, then I think that would have really helped me.
There is also a huge financial burden when it comes to buying, maintaining and replacing a wig, which I've highlighted in the film I have made with Fixers.
I hope my Fixers campaign will help people see the need for more emotional and financial support for people living with alopecia.
Amy Johnson supported my project by providing an interview for the ITV News broadcast.
