Campaign: | To encourage young people not to get involved in crime |
When I was younger I used to steal chocolate bars, which I'd then sell at school.
Soon I began stealing more valuable items like cheese or coffee, which I'd sell in order to raise money to buy cannabis.
One day, when I was 16, I was involved in a mugging. I was arrested and spent 23 hours in a cell thinking that I would be sent to prison.
Until I was caught, I'd never thought about the consequences.
Instead, I was given an 18 month probation order. It was the wakeup call I needed and I decided to turn my life around.
I want to show young people the importance of earning honest money and using the opportunities that life gives you - because a life of crime will never end well.
Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner
The Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire oversees and scrutinises policing, ensuring that Hampshire and the Isle of Wight has an efficient and effective police service. The Commissioner acts as a voice for the people, someone to lead the fight against crime, and someone to hold the police to account if they don't deliver.
The Youth Commission enables young people to be part of the solution by working in partnership with the Commissioner to tackle the issues they feel strongly about and that affect them the most.
