Campaign: | To show how children can be affected if they witness a parent’s abusive relationship |
Children learn from their parents. They can be easily influenced and often copy other people's behaviour.
If they witness domestic violence, they may grow up to think that aggression is an acceptable response in an argument.
With Fixers, my team and I want to show parents how destructive behaviour at home can have an impact on a child’s development.
We hope that this will encourage them to think before they act and could begin to end the cycle of abuse.
The Barker-Mill Estates consists of land owned and managed by the Barker-Mill family and its Trustees, covering particular areas in Hampshire. In 1995, the Barker-Mill Foundation was established in memory of their father and grandfather, Peter Barker-Mill.
Each year, the Foundation makes donations to charities, schools, organisations and individuals in the areas where the family has owned land for generations.
The Foundation is backing my campaign and is working in partnership with Fixers to give young people in Hampshire the chance to make a difference.
Me and my friends want young people to know that calories aren't the enemy!
