The team at Queen’s Sport support our project. We were able to hold our Ultimate Frisbee taster session using their facilities and they helped us to publicise our Fix within Queen’s University Belfast.
UK Ultimate Chris Bamford, the University Coordinator at UK Ultimate, supports our Fix. Our event day took place under UKU rules.
October 2015 To help raise the profile of Ultimate Frisbee, we decided to hold a taster session for sixth formers at Queen’s Sport, Queen’s University Belfast, on Wednesday 28th October.
We invited young people along to give it a go and we had some great feedback. You can read some of the comments underneath the photo below.
‘Ultimate is great fun. It's good exercise and it's easy to understand how to play it. I hope it's something that my school can play.’
‘There is no reason why every school in the country couldn't have an Ultimate Frisbee team or teams. There could easily be a schools league or cup competition within 5 years. I'm going to keep asking my old school to get a club started.’
‘I played rugby at school and now I'm at uni, I don't want to play to the uni standard but I still want to do something in a team environment that helps me stay fit. Ultimate fits that bill perfectly.’
‘I played hockey at school though I wouldn't say I was particularly good, certainly I wouldn't even consider trying out for the university hockey teams. I saw the Ultimate club promotion at Freshers week and it looked like it would be good fun. It's been over a month now and I'm really enjoying it and have made good friends. It's easy to pick up and fun to play. I wish I'd gotten into it sooner and it would be great if schools would offer it as an option. My dad is the Vice Principal of my old school. I will be asking him to consider getting it played there.’
‘I love Ultimate Frisbee. I'm not into regular sports like rugby or football but when I discovered Ultimate, I was hooked straight away.’
