Campaign: | To show young people how they could benefit from joining a youth organisation |
When I was younger, I struggled to make friends in school because I had low self-esteem and was shy.
But then I started taking part in out-of-school activities and I ended up meeting someone who convinced me to join the Cadets. It changed my life!
Joining the team has taught me leadership skills and enabled me to make friends. It's like being part of a family.
I’ve travelled abroad, met Prince Charles and taken part in activities such as rock climbing, shooting, abseiling and Scuba diving with the group.
Unfortunately, most young people I speak to are under the impression that youth organisations are uncool and geeky.
I want to help shake this assumption and show others what they could gain from signing up.
Mike Clemo, Youth Advisory Board Support, Momentum
