Campaign: | To encourage employers to see beyond a young person’s criminal record |
Young people with criminal convictions can often struggle outside of prison.
Distrusted by employers due to their past, many find it hard to reintegrate into society, which can fuel the cycle of crime.
Working with Fixers, my team and I are encouraging employers to rethink their prejudices and give ex-offenders a fair chance.
People make mistakes in life, but we shouldn’t hold this against them.
Instead, we need to see the individual and give them an opportunity to prove themselves.
Bethany Clark, Rebecca Jones and Violeta Gorcheva have helped me with this Fix
The team at Youth Focus North East support our project. We’re volunteers at the organisation and were able to hold all our meetings there. They also provided a space for us to use for the photo shoot for our Fixers leaflet.
Thanks also to Kurt Atkins and Jake Corrie, who were part of our team and supported the Fix.
