Campaign: | To encourage young people to take fire safety seriously |
In March this year, while attending a campfire party with my friends, I was severely burnt when someone decided to pour paint thinner onto the flames.
There was a big explosion and all you could see was a wall of fire.
In a split second, I was hospitalised for weeks and scarred for life.
I had to undergo three skin graft operations and 25 per cent of my body was burnt.
To prevent others from going through this traumatic experience, I’m working on a Fixers campaign to show young people the importance of taking fire safety seriously.
My injuries could have been much worse and I consider myself lucky.
I hope my message and story will encourage others to act responsibly around fires.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:
Abigail McDonald
India Johnson
Nathan Taylor
Rebecca McCluskey
Rebecca Morton
The Fire Station supports our Fixers campaign and allowed us to film part of the broadcast item at their location. Station Manager Lee Smith also provided an interview for the TV story.
Pamela Clare
Pamela, a freelance make-up artist, has supported my Fix. She did the make-up at my Fixers film shoot.
Me and my friends want young people to know that calories aren't the enemy!
