Location: | Canterbury, Kent |
Campaign: | To challenge negative perceptions of young mums |
We are a group of young mums – Jade and Rebecca (pictured) Bethany and Shyanna – and we know what it feels like to be judged by others.
We’ve been called names and stared at in the street by those who disapprove of us having children.
With Fixers, we want to challenge people’s negative perceptions of young mums.
We’re helping to create a film to show that we aren’t monsters – and that we are capable of being good parents.
Here is a list of Fixers helping with this Fix:
Jade Smith
Rebecca Clout
Bethany Luney
Shyanna Tanner
Youth Social Action Fund
My Fixers project was supported by the Cabinet Office’s Youth Social Action Fund.
As part of the Cabinet Office initiative ‘Step Up to Serve’, which is spearheaded by HRH the Prince of Wales, Fixers is working in partnership with the Youth Social Action Fund (YSAF) to offer the Fixer experience specifically to young people aged between 16 and 20 in Birmingham and parts of Kent.
Canterbury City Council
Alison McGuigan, a support worker at Canterbury City Council, has given our Fixers project her backing. She agreed to be interviewed to appear in our broadcast piece.
Amy Mackinnon, also a support worker, has helped facilitate our Fix. She's guided us in group discussions and has enabled us to develop our ideas.
