A group of passionate sportsmen are using their poster campaign to teach young people about how sport can benefit self-confidence, teamwork, and fitness.
The Fixers from Newport, South Wales will display their posters in local activities centres across their town to encourage young people to take up sport.
They are also holding taster sessions for a variety of sports at the city-wide Maindee Festival on 6th July.
The group, led by Fixer Nazrul Islam (21), wanted the posters to show that sport can be fun and much more sociable than sitting idle at home.
‘The posters are really good and eye-catching, and we hope it encourages people to take part in sports offered by local clubs,’ says Nazrul.
‘Sport is not just good to keep you fit, but it allows you to meet other people and learn really useful values such as teamwork, discipline, and confidence.’
Nazrul, who studies Sports Studies at the University of South Wales, hopes their campaign brings a lot of young people out of their shells and maybe even leads to discovering some new sporting talent.
He says: ‘Too many young people stay at home and play computer games when they could be learning new skills and interacting with new people.
‘Sport has been so beneficial to my life, and I hope it can now be to others too.’
