After filling a whole skip full of rubbish, a motivated Fixer is hoping his successful litter-pick on the streets of Sheffield will be a catalyst in stopping fly-tipping in Shiregreen.
With the help of more than 30 volunteers, Joshua Wilson (16) of Sheffield helped clean Concord Park and Woolley Woods which have sadly been ruined by litter louts over the years. (Watch Joshua's Fixers documentary 'Pick of the Litter' above)
Joshua’s long-term Fix is to cut the amount of fly-tipping and bring the area back up to its former self.
“I have lived in Shiregreen all my life and wanted to do something that would make a positive change for the area,” he said.
“I decided that cleaning up Concord Park and Woolley Woods would be a fantastic project as it is regularly used by the community and wider area.
“I wanted to do something as well as raising awareness on the issue.
"Doing something in the community is really uplifting and is something that I would like to carry on for the rest of my life.
“I want people to stop fly-tipping and want to launch an on-going campaign around the issues surrounding it, perhaps through a poster campaign.
"There is no point in cleaning it up for it just to be messed up again.
“We are looking at creating a campaign and want to discourage fly tipping in the area.”
The group were supported by Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, The Scouts and Sanctuary Housing who all sent people down for the clean-up.
