Campaign: To break misconceptions about fostered children

I was a child in care, and therefore I experienced life a little differently to other people.

 

Home life could be unsettling, and I spent a lot of time with different families before securing a foster family until I was 18.

 

But through my childhood and teens, I was ridiculed by people in my school. They would look at me as if I was some kind of sub-class, or a completely different person. They would often not be my friends, purely because they felt I was different for not having ‘proper’ parents.

 

Through my Fix, I am working towards creating a short documentary film which shows that children in care are no different to anybody else, and should not be treated differently. Children who are in care should not be singled-out or neglected.

Kingswood Young Homeless Project provide supported accommodation and housing advice for young homeless people, and support my Fixers project.
