To teach children coping strategies when their mood is low.
When I was about seven years old I remember feeling a deep sense of self-hatred and worthlessness.
At the core of my being I believed I was a burden to everyone around me.
I spent quite a lot of my childhood feeling depressed and anxious then when I was 19 I made a serious attempt on my life. I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital where I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.
If I had been able to talk about how I was feeling I wouldn't have reached crisis point.
I think it's really important children who are suffering are taught coping strategies from an early age. I hope parents and teachers will talk to kids about how they are feeling.
