Campaign: | To highlight the importance of drama lessons in schools |
I really enjoyed drama lessons at school and feel it did a lot for my confidence and ability to work with other people from all sorts of backgrounds.
I was able to transfer the skills I learned in to other subjects too. After school I went onto study drama at East 15 Acting School in Southend.
The skills you learn in drama are very useful when you leave school and go out in to the world of work, as they can help you present well at job interviews.
Drama is also fun and can be helpful for your mental wellbeing.
Unfortunately there is now so much emphasis at school on the academic subjects that arts subjects are sometimes being pushed aside and music and drama departments being combined.
I believe it’s important that schools, parents and pupils stop underestimating the importance of drama in our development.
