Campaign: To raise awareness of albinism and tackle misconceptions surrounding it

I have been rejected, insulted and discriminated against because of the colour of my skin.


I grew up in Cameroon in Central Africa and have albinism – a genetic condition that affects the production of melanin, the pigment that colours skin, hair and eyes.


People with albinism can appear very pale, and in parts of Africa this leaves you at risk of being attacked – or even killed – as a result of cultural superstitions.


With Fixers, I want to raise awareness of albinism and bring to people’s attention the plight of albinos in some parts of Africa.


I want to challenge the misconceptions ingrained in some of these cultures by becoming a voice for the voiceless.
