Campaign: | To raise awareness of OCD |
I was first diagnosed with OCD when I was 15. It had taken me a while to seek help as I found nobody really understood the condition – including me!
If I’d known more about obsessive compulsive disorder and its symptoms, I would have been able to get support sooner.
That’s why, with Fixers, I want to raise awareness of the mental health condition so others can recognise its different forms.
Many people think of OCD as constant handwashing. In fact, it can be all sorts of different things.
I hope my project will help people understand that OCD is about having obsessive thoughts and feeling compelled to act on them.
Thank you to Christina Forrest, who has helped me with my Fix.
Thank you to Olivia Bamber from OCD Action for sharing my resource via Twitter, and informing your Twitter followers about my Fixers film. The organisation has also said they may post the video on their website to share with their visitors.

Here is some of the feedback I've received on my Fixers film:
Francis Burrows, Director of Operations for MindFull tweeted: 'Excellent film and well done Ali! Also added it to the video section of mindfull.org.'
Another tweet stated: 'A couple of people close to me have OCD and this clip I've just watched makes me sad to think they're going through it.'
American blogger, Miranda Speaks, who writes about her experiences with OCD tweeted: 'This film is incredible! It does such a great job of showing what OCD "sounds" like.'
