Campaign: To help tackle food poverty

I grew up in Bangladesh where I saw poverty first-hand. When I arrived in the UK I wasn’t expecting to see similar hardship, so to learn that some people experience food poverty came as a shock.

It’s my view that nobody should have to go hungry, but where I live in Tower Hamlets in East London it is a problem.

My group and I want to raise awareness of food poverty by highlighting both the extent of the issue and that support is available.

We particularly want to target our campaign at people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. We don’t want cultural and language barriers to prevent anyone from seeking help.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:

Nuruddin Khan Mashhudur Rahman
Soful Islam Mohammed Ahmed
Demi With Asad Khan

Martin Caraher, City University London
Martin Caraher, Professor of Food and Health Policy at the university, is backing my Fix. He gave his expert opinion in my broadcast piece.

Eat or Heat Food Bank
Michelle Twitchett, Trustee at the Eat or Heat Food Bank, is supportive of my campaign. She contributed to my broadcast film.

Larbi Oulad-Issa
Larbi is supporting my Fixers project. He agreed to be interviewed about his experiences to appear in my broadcast piece.
