I grew up in Bangladesh where I saw poverty first-hand. When I arrived in the UK I wasn’t expecting to see similar hardship, so to learn that some people experience food poverty came as a shock.
It’s my view that nobody should have to go hungry, but where I live in Tower Hamlets in East London it is a problem.
My group and I want to raise awareness of food poverty by highlighting both the extent of the issue and that support is available.
We particularly want to target our campaign at people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. We don’t want cultural and language barriers to prevent anyone from seeking help.
