I’ve always wanted to become a vet, but employers like to see that you’ve done quite a bit of work experience at different places.
I’ve seen friends of mine complain about doing boring placements, which have often involved making tea or learning how to use the photocopier.
It’s my view that work experience should be beneficial to young people and provide them with solid career skills that they can use in the future.
With Fixers, my team and I have devised an assessment scheme that judges employers’ work experience programmes and awards the best ones with a young person’s seal of approval.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:
Nicky Jackson, Inspira
Nicky supported my Fix by providing an interview for my ITV News broadcast story.
Coomara Veterinary Practice
I went for work experience at this veterinary practice. Peter Denston supported my project by allowing to be filmed for the broadcast item and also agreeing to have one of our Fixers 'Youth Approved Work Experience' stickers in the surgery.
