Campaign: | To make people smile with good gestures |
Often it can just take a smile to make someone feel happier about themselves.
With this thought in mind, we decided to organise a National Good Gestures Day.
The campaign saw me and my team give random members of the public free high-fives, handshakes, hugs and first bumps to put them in a positive mood.
The event, originally held in Birmingham, was inspired by my good friend Stephen Sutton, who was diagnosed with incurable cancer when he was 17.
Despite this, he always chose to live life with a smile on his face and shower others in his positivity.
Currently I’m studying at university in Swansea, but I had known Stephen since our school days together.
He was one of the smartest people I’ve ever met and always put others before himself.
I think we owe it to him to ensure his positive message and campaigns like Good Gestures Day leave a lasting legacy.

The event went really well and the public were awesome! A lot of people asked about Stephen and our campaign and there were a lot of smiles. Everyone did brilliantly and it was a top effort! We were also interviewed by ITV Wales and met a member of the Welsh Rugby Team!
