Campaign: | To make people smile through acts of kindness |
When you make somebody smile, you automatically feel good.
It’s this positive feeling that my team and I wanted to spread when we held our Good Gestures Day.
On this uplifting occasion we gave out free high-fives, fist bumps, handshakes and hugs to members of the public.
Ours was one of a number of events taking place as part of National Good Gestures Day.
The inspiration behind this campaign was one of my best friends, Stephen Sutton, who had incurable cancer.
Despite this, he never stopped living his life to the full and remaining positive.
I’m studying at university in Falmouth and want to continue to spread Stephen’s message - that we all need to live our lives being as happy as we can be.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:

After the success of last year's event, I'm leading National Good Gestures Day in Falmouth again on May 16th.
May 2014
Our National Good Gestures Day event was held on Market Strand in Falmouth Town Centre on Saturday 10th May and was featured in the West Briton Newspaper.

The event went incredibly well! It was lovely to be out there getting everyone involved and it gave me such a nice feeling when people responded well to what we were doing.
Our event was attended by Truro and Falmouth MP Sarah Newton, who commented:
'Stephen's positive attitude in spreading happiness in the face of such adversity is truly inspirational. I am sure that these events across the country have been just as succesful, but this is a strong testament of the kindness and generosity of the people of Falmouth.'
We also had some really good feedback from the public at the event:
'I think this is really nice because being in a university town a lot of people have negative views of students. It's nice that young people can get out and show that we're not all bad apples!'
'It's nice that young people are doing good gestures. I think it's a great idea. If I make you happy then you make somebody else happy and that's the way the world goes round!'
'It feels fantastic having a free gesture! It makes the students look good.'
'It feels awesome having a free hug. Hugs are good for everyone surely. I got a free hug and a free high-five and I feel great!'
