Campaign: | To spread happiness through good gestures |
We think being kind to one another makes the world a better place.
Therefore with Fixers, we organised a Good Gestures Day in Fargate, Sheffield on Saturday 10th May.
As part of a national campaign, it involved offering members of the public free high-fives, handshakes, hugs and fist bumps to brighten up their day.
The event is inspired by our friend Stephen Sutton, who despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer chose to be positive and spread happiness to others around him through kind actions.
Stephen held the original Good Gestures Day in Birmingham in November 2013.
I’m now at university in Sheffield but went to the same school as Stephen growing up. He was such a kind-hearted person and always put others first.
If he could find the motivation after everything he went through, then we can make the effort to spread his message of positivity to the streets of Sheffield.

Myself and fellow Fixer Sam Thomas attended the Labour Party Conference in Manchester and took part in a Fixers debate with Tristram Hunt MP, Shadow Education Minister, on social action.
We also had the opportunity to speak to Mr Hunt and an assembled audience about our projects.
