Campaign: | To deter young people from binge drinking |
Young people often don’t appreciate the damaging effects of alcohol.
Aside from the impact drinking too much can have on a person’s health, it can also affect the way they behave – causing them to do and say things that are out of character.
This is something that my team and I have seen happen, and we feel it’s a relevant issue to address both within schools and the local community.
We hope to use our campaign to show a young audience that alcohol isn’t as fun as it seems – especially when you overdo it.
With Fixers, we’ve created and performed three short sketches that blend comedy with a serious message, to portray what can happen when you drink too much.
Kathryn Williams and Madison Ciabon are helping me with my Fix.
Newport Youth Service / Caerleon Comprehensive School
The Newport Youth Service Youth Workers assigned to our school have supported our Fix. They helped find a location for our performance and sourced props for us. They arranged interactive activities for those attending our launch event, including giving guests the chance to look through ‘beer goggles’ which simulate the effects of alcohol. They also bought all the ingredients needed to make the non-alcoholic cocktails we offered our audience on the night, directed the performance and invited guests along.
