Name: | Jordan Caldwell |
Age: | 17 |
Year of the Fix: | 2014 |
Location: | Carnmoney, County Antrim |
Campaign: | To educate people about anorexia in teenagers |
When I was 12, I was diagnosed with anorexia.
My eating disorder was triggered by the death of close family members and being cut from my local football team.
Unable to cope with my emotions, I began to compulsively exercise and refused to eat and drink.
It was almost like someone else was in control of my body.
Now in recovery, I’m working with Fixers to show others you can get better and shouldn’t lose faith.
Eating disorders like anorexia are not just about food – they are about feelings.
I want people out there that are struggling and feeling really low to realise that you’ll start to enjoy life again and that it’s worth fighting for.
I am proof that it does get better. My TV story reached an audience of at least 200,000 people and I'm now a recognised expert on the topic of eating disorders within my community. I've also been asked to be an ambassador for the charity MGEDT (Men Get Eating Disorders Too).
My Fixers project has given me confidence to talk about my experiences and I'm planning future workshops to give others this same encouragement.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:
Benjamin Mudge
Matthew Gould
Eating Disorders Association, Northern Ireland
Ann McCann supported my Fix by giving an interview in my ITV News item.
Ben Mudge, Personal Trainer

November 2014
As an #iwill Ambassador for the Step Up To Serve campaign, I took part in the first-ever Google+ Hangout with HRH Prince Charles.
I had a chance to speak to him about my Fixers campaign and share how youth social action has impacted my life, as well as my community.

Kathy:
'It takes great strength and courage to do this Jordan. Be proud of yourself!'
Karla:
'Well done Jordan! You're an inspiration. Keep it up.'
